Diffusione

È un genere di pesci piatti che comprende diverse specie che hanno una bocca dotata di grandi denti e che abitano le coste degli oceani Atlantico e Pacifico. Ad eccezione di S. guineensis, della costa atlantica dell'Africa, tutte le specie sono originarie delle acque delle Americhe.
